signé is pleased to present :

Martin Szekely - Soleil Noir

October 9th – 31st, 2025

At the center of this new presentation is the mirror Soleil Noir (2007), made of silicon carbide, a material originating in the aerospace industry and akin to diamond. Polished continuously for one month, it attains a surface of exceptional optical quality.

Conceived as an immersive display underscoring the dimension of use within the pieces, the installation brings together the Banquette EJN (2010) from the Heroic Carbon collection and a film by the Canadian artist Mark Lewis.

This presentation echoes the monographic exhibition Martin Szekely - Ne plus dessiner at the Centre Pompidou in 2011, which featured the mirror Soleil Noir and a film created specifically for the occasion. Titled Black Mirror at the National Gallery, it is a seven-minute single take that stages the mirror’s journey through the Dutch painting galleries of London’s National Gallery.

This scenography offers visitors a dual experience: to be spectators and, simultaneously, subjects reflec- ted in the mirror.

In October 2026, signé will present a major exhibition of unseen works by the designer.
